ABOUT US

Health Pastures, Healthy Animals

Itungo Pastures was established in 2016 as a demonstration farm in Wakiso town council to address the problem of insufficient and poor-quality animal feed in the region. By providing farmers with solutions for pasture production, feeding, and farm tools, the farm aims to improve animal health, increase farmer profits, and enhance their livelihoods.

Here's a breakdown of how it started:

  • Identification of a Problem: Itungo Pastures recognized that many farmers struggled with a lack of proper animal feed, leading to poor animal health and reduced profitability.
  • Founding as a Demonstration Farm: In 2016, Itungo Pastures was established in Wakiso as a hands-on demonstration site to showcase best practices in pasture production.
  • Goal of Practical Solutions: The farm's mission was to provide farmers with practical, hands-on solutions to pasture management and animal feed production.
  • Provision of Services: Itungo Pastures began offering a range of services including:
  • Selling high-quality pasture seeds and cuttings.
  • Manufacturing and supplying agricultural farm tools, such as forage cutting machines and manual hay and forage cutters.
  • Providing silage bags for the proper storage of fermented feed.
  • Broader Objective: Beyond just selling products, Itungo Pastures works to help farmers develop a plan for pasture production, ensuring better feed for their livestock and contributing to the overall development of farming in the communities they serve.
