Brachiara Mullato 11

Brachiaria Mulato II (or Mulato II) is a highly successful, genetically improved Brachiaria grass hybrid developed by CIAT. It is known for its superior nutritional quality, drought tolerance, and resistance to spittlebugs, making it an excellent choice for livestock forage in tropical and subtropical regions with acidic, low-fertility soils. It can be used for grazing, hay, and silage, and is a valuable tool for improving meat and milk production in cattle and small ruminants.

  • Genetics: An apomictic hybrid, meaning it is genetically stable and produces true copies of the maternal parent, maintaining its high quality over time.
  • Adaptation: Thrives in acidic soils, low fertility conditions, high temperatures, and dry periods. It is well-adapted to the tropics and subtropics, from sea level to about 1800 meters.
  • Resistance: High resistance to various spittlebug species.
  • Forage Quality: Produces a leafy, vigorous, and nutritious forage.
  • Productivity: High forage yields, even in challenging conditions like low-fertility, acidic soils.
  • Uses: Suitable for direct grazing, producing hay, and making silage.
